Colca Canyon Experience
02 Days / 01 Night
We will begin our journey along the Route of the Volcanoes, ascending the slopes of the Chachani Volcano while enjoying breathtaking views of Misti and Picchu Picchu. Along the way, we will traverse the Vicuña Reserve in Pampa Cañahuas, a high-Andean ecosystem where these emblematic species are protected. The route will reach its highest point at the Patapampa Pass (4,900 meters above sea level), where we will have a view of the active Sabancaya Volcano.
From there, we will descend into the Colca Valley, arriving in the village of Achoma to enjoy a countryside lunch at a local restaurant.
In Achoma, we will have the opportunity to engage in unique cultural experiences with a local family. Activities include participating in the Pachamama Offering Ceremony, helping with traditional planting techniques, and learning the Wititi Dance, a cultural symbol of the valley. The day will end with relaxation at the thermal baths before heading to the town of Chivay to rest and spend the night.
At dawn, we will depart for the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint, where we will witness the majestic flight of the condors, iconic birds of the Andean region. This viewpoint also offers a stunning view of the canyon, recognized as one of the deepest in the world.
Next, we will visit the picturesque villages of Maca and Yanque, which still preserve their colonial churches. Afterward, we will enjoy a local lunch before beginning the return trip to Arequipa in the afternoon.
