Inca Trail
02 Days / 01 Night
We will depart from Ollantaytambo aboard the train heading to Machu Picchu, disembarking at kilometer 104 of the railway. From this point, we will begin the hike towards the Wiñay Wayna complex, surrounded by exceptional landscapes along the banks of the Urubamba River. Wiñay Wayna was a very special site on the Inca Trail, serving both religious and agricultural purposes. Its architectural style is very similar to Machu Picchu, standing out for its impressive terraces on the mountainside. We will have time to explore it and enjoy the abundant local flora, including orchids, before having lunch.
We will resume the hike along the Inca Trail, surrounded by lush vegetation, heading to Inti Punku, the gateway to Machu Picchu. Crossing the Sun Gate is a unique experience, the perfect reward after the challenging hike. We will enter Machu Picchu and then take a bus to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Pueblo to recharge.
Machu Picchu is pure magic, and today we will have the opportunity to explore it with our expert guide. Built in the 15th century by Inca Pachacutec, the citadel is an astonishing example of Inca architectural knowledge and their ability to adapt to the rugged Andean environment. Our guided tour will take us through the main sites within the llaqta, as we learn about the history, organization, and significance of this Wonder of the World during the Tahuantinsuyo era. We will explore its terraces and inner temples with the stunning backdrop of the Huayna Picchu mountain. After the tour, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Pueblo to await the departure of our return train to Ollantaytambo.
